Tuesday in the Tortoni Cafe by Luis

    Today I woke up at 7 am and got ready. I came out my room and ate some eggs. Around 7:30 we started walking to school. When we got to school the seniors met in a classroom where the teachers said a prayer for all of the students. All the exchange students from the US came to the cafeteria to hang out and wait for our tour, I got a coke and a kinder bueno. 

    At 8:30 we left and got to see historical landmarks. We walked a ton until we got to the cafe. When we went inside I could smell all the foods and I asked for a hot chocolate and some churros. The hot chocolate was nice and hot as well as the churros that were filled with dulce de leche. I sat at a table with my friends and we talked about our time in Argentina. Once everyone was finished we explored around the historic cafe. 

    It was around 12 when we started walking back to the school for lunch. For lunch, it was pasta with white sauce and bread. We spent around an hour playing cards and another hour playing basketball. We went to a sixth grade class and played games for about an hour. After the class, me and Juan went back to the house to relax. I got to take a nap and when I woke up food was ready which was pasta. The pasta was really good and what I noticed during my time here is that people drink coke all the time. I showered and got ready after we ate, I spent some time on my phone before I went to bed, concluding my Tuesday.

Hola familias, today we all woke up very late because of the long and tiring flight.  Then we started the asado. We all played fútbol and taught some Argentinians how to play football. The asado was amazing and the dessert as well. The asado also had students from the Gonzaga exchange program. We all had a great time and the asado smelled amazing. We played soccer tennis and we ended with a fire. All the families brought different desserts which were amazing. Especially the cake and the alfajores. I ended the day eating empanadas and watching the NBA finals.

Getting to know BA by Will

     Today we had a tour of the city. First we went to the Recoleta Cemetery and saw a beautiful church. After we went to La Boca and saw the stadium of a soccer team here, Boca Juniors (even though river is the better team). After we walked around the area outside of the stadium and we went shopping in some shops. After that we went to a restaurant in an old convent in San Telmo, we tried milanesa and asado and explored the area. Finally most of us went to a students house and played a traditional Argentinian card game, truco.

Around BA by Denzel

 Wednesday June 11th,      Today was an eventful and informative day. To start the day our group was split up. Some went and taught an English class and the other half sat in the cafe and partook in a delightful culinary experience (got kicked out of our class and were sent to cafe). Around 9 am alongside the Gonzaga students we took a sightseeing trip and visited many political buildings and historic statues/ monuments. The first monument we saw was a replica Obelisk created after the republic defeated the dictatorship in Argentina. One thing we noticed however were portable protest fences scattered around the monument. This was due to the fact the previous day the ex president and sent to arrested on counts of corruption and government fraud. Similar to America, Argentina is strongly politically divided.      After the monument we walked to plaza de Mayo.
